**G!VE-it-AWAY** Shed the pounds with The Zone Diet


It is a new year and I know MANY of us are looking to shed some pounds. With all the choices out there, I know it can be hard to find something to fit your lifestyle. What I needed was something simple and easy… that is why I was drawn to the Zone Diet.

The Zone Diet, created by Dr. Barry Sears in 1995, believes that Cellular inflammation is what makes us gain weight and has come up with a program that simply divides your plate at every meal into three equal sections. On one-third of the plate put some low-fat protein that is no bigger or thicker than the palm of your hand. Then fill the other two-thirds of the plate with color carbohydrates (vegetables and fruits). Finally add a dash (that’s a small amount) of fat that is low in omega-6 and saturated fats such as olive oil.

I was given the opportunity to try the Zone 1-2-3 Foods Standard Program which includes:

1 Bagel – Multigrain
1 Bagel – Onion
1 Bagel – Sesame
1 Roll – Cinnamon
1 Package – Original Granola

2 Packages – Fusilli
3 Packages – Orzo
1 Pizza Crust – White (7-inch)

SNACKS

1 Package – Herbed Pretzel
1 Package – Original Granola
1 Package – Coconut Chocolate Cookies
1 Package – Strawberry Nougat Bar
1 Package – Double Chocolate Fudge Nougat Bar
1 Package – Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies
1 Pretzel – Sesame

My box arrived and I went to work reading the included pamphlet and recipes. I will say that the first couple days of the diet, I was a bit hungry after each meal, but my body soon conformed to the diet. Since I am a big fan of anything sweet, I have to say the Chocolate Chunk cookie was my favorite.  I could also see myself living off of the sesame bagel, it was soft and yummy.

I tried my best to stick to the diet, and only found it hard on days that we ate out, but all in all, it was a very simple diet to follow. I loved that everything was either grab and go or easy to assemble. Oh and after four weeks, on the Zone Diet, as well as walking in the evenings and swimming a couple days a week, I was down 6 pounds.

All in all, I would recommend this to you because of how easy it is to follow. The Zone Diet website also offers individual orders of shakes, foods, supplements, skin care, books, and weight loss programs. You will also find helpful tools, such as coaches, quick start guides, a FREE Zone membership, and more… It really is more than just a diet, it is a lifestyle.

    I have been struggling with my weight off and on, it wasn’t until I had a heart attack in 2008 and went into a depression that I really packed on the pounds, 4 yrs later here I sit determined that this will be the yr I make a come back, I don’t want to have to explain to my grandkids why nana is fat, done faced it one time and it hurt, so I want to lose and get my life back so I can walk and run and play with the kids and not be falling out needing cpr. They are reason to live and I refuse to let weight take me away from them.

  48. I have been struggling to lose weight since I gained 30pds during pregnancy. Im 147pds still within a normal BMI but at the limit of being overweight, The thing Im disappointed the most is I still cant wear my old wardrobe and Im not the active old me!
