Getting Healthy with Nutrisystem – Week 1 (#NSNation)

Well, as of tomorrow, we will have been on Nutrisystem for one week! Woo Hoo! I have so many thoughts and feelings that I don’t know where to begin… first of all, the food! I am shocked at how much food is included in our diet. Between meals, snacks, shakes, and extras, there is never a moment of hunger… for me… that is! Ha, ha, ha! You see, I love salads and veggies, which is odd, since I have gotten so heavy, right? Hubby, on the other hand, not a fan of either. In our many, many years together, I don’t think I have ever seen him eat a salad!

So, how is it going?

Well… it has been tough… I won’t lie! It is a lifestyle change, not just a diet change.. it is a change in attitude and life! Some of the food I just LOVE and could eat all the time, others, not so much! I love the shakes. Everything recommends having them in the morning to get you going, but I choose to use them as my late night snack. Not only do they curb my “sweet-craving” but they do a good job of filling me up.

Accountability… This is a hard one!

I think accountability has been a hard one for both Hubby and I. We are tracking our daily meals, snacks, and water intake on our phones with the Nutrisystem Tracker. There are so many times I am passing a chicken nugget or fry onto one of the kids and I think, I could have just one, right? But I don’t; I am staying strong. Hubby said he is having issues with the same thing. Many times he thinks, I could just have one bit of Little Man’s pizza and Shauna won’t know; but he doesn’t! It is all about staying true and holding yourself accountable!

Exercise… wait, what is that?

Hubby is doing great with exercise. He is a Home Improvement Contractor, so he is ALWAYS on his feet and doing stuff. Plus, when he is home he is quick to take the kids for walks and he LOVES going to the gym.

For me, it is a little different! I hate sweat! As Hubby says, I am allergic to it, ha, ha, ha! So I find myself finding reasons to take the kids to the mall to walk or to Sea World, which is easily a thirty minute to one hour walk, pushing at least one kid at a time. I have also decided to hold my self to going to the gym three-times a week. Baby Miss is finally doing better at Day Care, so I don’t feel as guilty leaving her there. Today was my first day and it felt good. I swam for thirty minutes and feel refreshed.

We also received the P90X – but are still in the process of getting all the necessary equipment! I had no clue we would need a pull-up bar! This looks really intense and I am sure Hubby will rock it.

Biggest SHOCK so far…

Since I am now counting calories, I am SHOCKED at how many calories some of my favorites have. We discussed Chinese Food and I am really craving some Peking Duck – um… yeah, wow! Over 1,000 calories? I don’t think so, ha, ha, ha! Oh and I was VERY sad to find out that my one maybe two Sonic Tea’s a day has to change – their Large Sweet Tea has 290 calories. So, I now get their Large Unsweet Tea (5 Calories) and am using my own Calorie-Free Sweetener.

Next Week’s Goals –

My Goal is to hit the gym Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday – I can do it!

Hubby’s Goal is to eat one more veggie a day!

What YOU can do to help us stay on track:

I am a WIMP, I admit it… Hubby, is not… when he puts his mind to something he becomes obsessed! So, I could use your help! I will be writing weekly and monthly posts with any and all updates… I would appreciate if YOU could help me by reading and commenting on these posts with words of advice! It will help me, knowing that not only am I accountable to Hubby and Nutrisystem – but to the people who matter so very much to me – My READERS!!!
