Marvel The Avengers REV!EW & G!VE-it-AWAY!!!

Hubby and I had the opportunity to go see Marvel’s The Avengers and as much as I LOVED the movie and wanted to tell you all about it, I felt that this would be the perfect opportunity for my “geeky Hubby” to get his whistle wet at writing a review!

Easily this years most anticipated movie is Marvels The Avengers.
Shauna was kind enough to bring me to the Press Showing of Marvels The Avengers, and I tell you, even before the movie even started you could feel the excitement in the theater.
As I impatiently sat watching kids and adults alike walking in dressed as their favorite super hero my own childhood fantasies of wanting to be the Hulk crept into my mind. The movie wasted no time jumping right into the action with Loki, played by Tom Hiddelston, showing up via what appeared to be a wormhole to steal the Tesseract, which is a small cube that emits electromagnetic energy. This is also our first introduction to Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Rennet. Hawkeye’s skills with the bow could only be matched by the best elven archers… unfortunately for the Avengers he fought for the wrong side for most of the movie. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. is at his best while sparring verbally with Thor. When not volleying verbal jabs at one another Iron Man and Captain America, played by Chris Evans, teamd up to take on Thor  for, what I thought was one of the better fight scenes in the movie . Meanwhile, Loki watched everything unfold just the way he had planned.  Loki’s skills at manipulation are on display as well, as he works to tear the team apart.

To my delight it was also very enjoyable to see how well Black Widow was played by Scarlett Johansson. She did a whole lot of kick butt with a little bit of vulnerability mixed in. In addition to her wicked agility she bests Loki in a surprising interrogation. Samuel L Jacksons portrayal of Nick Fury was amazing, it seemed like the part was made for him, as he was very single minded and unwavering in his mission to unite our unlikely team and save the world. It was very refreshing to see that he didn’t even allow his superiors get in his way.

The biggest surprise by far, was Mark Ruffalo, playing the Hulk. When he’s was not destroying Shields flying fortress he was at home beating the stuffing out of the Skrull army that Loki brought through a portal created by the Tesseract.

This movie by far is the best Marvel production they have put out to date, with plenty of non-stop action. I can’t recall a movie that ever kept me on the edge of my seat with tension, only to floor me with comic relief from even the most unlikely of characters; thank you Hulk. It’s unfortunate that it took a global event to bring these egos together but I’m glad it happened.
