San Antonio Eating – Papouli’s Greek Grill

One of my favorite parts of living in San Antonio is the number of restaurants to choose from. I tell you, within a five-mile radius, you can find tons of choices from fast-food to quick dine-in, to five-star restaurants. The only thing I felt was missing was a good authentic Greek Restaurant… until now.

Papouli’s opened a bit ago and since then, it has become a favorite for Hubby and I! When we are in the mood for something a bit different we step into our little piece of Greek Heaven as we walk through the doors of Papouli’s . With beautiful Greek-inspired decor and murals, you feel as if you are dining on a balcony on the hillside of Greece, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

One of my favorite aspects of this restaurant is the friendliness of the service. Within moments of walking in, we were greeted by the nice young lady behind the counter, who had no issues walking around to the large wall menu to assist us in making our meal decision. It took us moments to place our order and go sit down to await our food.

When it arrived I could feel my stomach growl when the yummy aroma of our food hit me. I ordered the Traditional Plate with Steak and Chicken and Hubby ordered The Traditional Roman Pita Sandwich. Now, I am a VERY picky eater when it comes to chicken; it has to be moist and flavorful and my plate was perfect. The chicken tasted like it had been marinated for some time. Each mouth-watering bite was full of the perfect spices felt like it just melted in my mouth. Meanwhile, the steak was perfectly cooked, with just as much flavor. Of course, the Greek Salad and rice pilaf were the perfect sides to this dish.

Hubby ate his Gyro in minutes… slathering each bite with they yummy tzatziki (Papouli’s sour cream and cucumber garlic sauce.) He said the meat was tender and scrumptious.

Oh and I forgot to mention, they offer not only the Greek traditional choices, like Gyro with pita and beef or chicken on a stick for the kids, they also offer a beef patty, grilled cheese (on Pita,) as well as, chicken strip tenders.

All in all, the meal, service, and atmosphere was top-notch and we WILL be returning soon!
