If you have little ones who love the world of dragons and super heroes boy do I have some reading suggestions for you! As you know, my little ones are HUGE book lovers. Little Man enjoys his reading time with his dad the best, Little Miss can always be found hiding in her closet with a few dozen books at a time, and Baby Miss brings us book after book to read over and over. So, when Canadian Author, Vanessa Canevaro, contacted me about reviewing her books, I jumped at the chance.
Zero the Superhero is a children’s chapter book for children ages six-to-nine. Zero the Superhero is a fun book about a young boy named Henry, who with the aid of his sidekick Superbird, saves his small town from evil doers. Henry is a boy with a wild imagination that can see the good in everyone and every situation. Henry lives his life on his own terms and creates his own destiny by believing in himself.
The other book that we received is called I Want a Dragon and is for children ages three-to-six, perfect for my little ones. This book follows the quest of a young boy named Robbie who is searching for the perfect gift for the girl who has everything, but what she really wants is a dragon.
Folks, I am not kidding when I say that my kids really enjoyed this book… within no time, it has become a family-favorite that has been read over-and-over again. The very colorful pictures are full of energy and super fun to look at, that even my two-year-old got a kick out of them. The story itself is really well-written and perfect for the age group. Of course, my kids LOVED the Wizard of the book, whom Hubby does a great job impersonating. Our favorite part of the book was Marcy May who follows Robbie around, yelling out, “I want a dragon!” which was so much fun, that by the end of the book all three of my kids were yelling out, “I want a dragon!” Plus, as a parent, Hubby and I loved the lesson learned at the end of the book.
All in all, the book was very easy for the children to follow and did an amazing job of keeping them engaged. You know a book is good when they get quiet at the big parts, just to roll on the bed laughing at the funny parts.
