Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is an exciting and welcome change to a gaming universe full of realistic game play. When Shauna told me we would be receiving this game to play, I thought it was just that, a game; I didn’t realize it had so much to it. Yes there is still a central point of saving the Skylanders and becoming more powerful by way of leveling up through experience points, but there is so much more to it. For the sake of Little Man playing the game, I appreciated that Spyro’s Adventure does not rely on vast combat wastelands and dark post apocalyptic settings but rather extremely colorful worlds, creative characters, and an enjoyable story lines.
Love the bright and colorful world
The unique external portal attachment for the wii is an especially enjoyable way to select and play your character. When Little Man saw the portal he couldn’t pick a character fast enough to start playing. Surprisingly to me, since it took me a moment to “get” the whole system, he took to it pretty well and got the ease with which he learned the controls. I was ecstatic to hear the words being read to him at the beginning of the game, making life much easier on us.
Is was a joy watching him explore the brighly colored worlds and work on building his own. The starter pack arrived with three Skylanders Figures, the game portal, game for the Wii, as well as, a collectors poster to keep track of each of the figures he gets along the way! Since the arrival of the game, we of course added a few figures to his bunch, at his request!
At the same time, the game continues online integrating Little Man’s Skylanders collection, making HIS game portable! What I loved about the online version is that once the child registers, an email automatically arrives in the PARENTS inbox, letting us know what is happening. Also, there are a number of safety procedures put in place making it a secure place for children to play and interact with others.

Having such a large library of over 30 characters to choose from guarantees this game will be one of our favorites for years to come. My only regret so far is that since we only have one laptop, we haven’t even scratched the surface of interacting with the vast online Skylander world yet, but I am sure as Little Man gets older, it will happen more and more.
