G!ve-it-Away!! W!N Copy-Kids Eat Fruits and Vegetables DVD & 25.00 Whole Foods Gift Card

October 13, 2012 by Shauna 201 Comments

My kids are really good eaters. I have been very lucky in that they really love their fruits and veggies. BUT, there is one item they won’t even try; and that is a tomato. So, when our Copy-Kids Eat Fruits and Vegetables DVD arrived I was very excited to see that one of the items featured was a tomato!!!

What is Copy-Kids, you ask? Well, it is an adorable video filled with twelve chapters, one for each of twelve fruits & veggies: bell peppers, bananas, oranges, carrots, strawberries, avocado, raspberries, tomatoes, apples, broccoli, cucumber, blueberries. The DVD is approved by the USDA and added to their Education and Training Materials Database for pre-school nutrition

Since we tend to spend a lot of time in our car driving to gymnastics, school, play dates, or swimming I chose it as a perfect time to introduce this new video. I put it in and gave Little Miss the remote. The movie is very cool because you just choose which chapter you want your child to watch and then press play. Within seconds your child will see a segment filled with children ages 9 months to 4 years, laughing and giggling while eating the fruit or vegetable. What I thought was amazing was that in no-time, my kids were giggling and laughing, as well; I guess laughter really is contagious.

Little Miss, age three, seemed to be the one to enjoy the video the most. She loved that she could choose which chapter to watch and had a blast watching chapter after chapter, even the ones about the fruits and veggies that she already loves. It was actually very funny because she loves cucumbers and each time she sees that particular chapter she screams, “Look, Mama, they are just like me, they love their cucumbers!”

Now, I won’t tell you that immediately after watching the tomato chapter a couple times, that my kids jumped up and down asking to try one; but I will tell you that one night at dinner Little Miss did NOT pick the tomato out of her salad, instead she tried it. This was something she would not do in the past. After trying it, she made a funny face and said, “Mama, it didn’t make me want to laugh like in the movie!” Ha, ha, ha!!!

So, all in all, this video was a hit with our family and I can understand why it has won awards from Dr. Toy, MACT, and Parent Tested, Parent Approved. I really enjoyed the on-camera discussion about healthy eating with renowned pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon and all the kids really got a kick out of the funny outakes. Plus, the fact that the video did indeed encourage Little Miss to try something she would not try before, is a huge step in the right direction, in my book.

It’s my Grandson and I would love if he would eat any of those foods. The child will not touch Veggies or fruit, except bananas. He will pick out the smallest bit of green pepper or onion or broccoli from his food. He’s 2 and refused to eat for a whole day, not a bite, cause we pushed veggies. He used to eat them all, now he will not.
