This is the year for interactive iPad games. The problem I have, is finding some that are actually educational, as I really believe that if my kids are going to spend tons of time playing games, I would like them to actually learn something. This is the reason I wanted to include Nuko Toys, Animal Planet Wildlands game for ages three and up, and  Monsterology game for ages eight and up, in this years Holiday Gift Guide.

I first learned about Animal Planet Wildlands at BlogHer ’12 and fell in love. This is the coolest interactive game… how it works is that you download the app for free from itunes. Next you ‘tap’ in your animals. Let me explain; you can purchase tradable Wildlands Animal Cards at Apple Stores and Toys ‘R Us,  plus at select Target, Meijer and Walmart stores. These cards not only allow you to place your animals in the game, they also have educational information about each of the animals. LOVE it, right?

Once you have ‘tapped’ your cards into your game, they stay there where you can control each animal, having them run or fly through heat waves and rain storms. With Animal Planet Wetlands, you can collect, learn about, and interact with 50 exotic animals rendered in beautiful 3D!

Let me tell you, all three of my kids LOVE playing this game. Little Man loves reading all about the animals and really enjoys watching the educational movie clips attached the the animals, showing real animal take downs and information. Meanwhile, Little Miss and Baby Miss just LOVE the graphics and love controlling the animals on the iPad.

Now, as for the Monsterology game… as my kids are so young, I gave this game to Hubby. Many of you may not know that Hubby is a huge gamer and loves these sorts of games. The way this one works is that it takes the monsters from those amazing Monsterology books and brings them to life in the iPad. How cool, right? This game is perfect for ages eight to adult and Hubby just loves it. He says there are so many aspects of the game, ensuring hours upon hours of game play.

All in all, both games provide A-M-A-Z-I-N-G 3D graphics and are so much fun. So, I would suggest checking out NukoToys for everyone on your holiday list!
