Three ways WE prepare for the perfect family movie night!!!

March 21, 2013 by Shauna 9 Comments

Movie night is a big deal in our home. If we get too busy and go too long between our family movie nights, the kids start begging and asking for one. Watching a movie as a family is a wonderful way to get in tons of snuggle time, family time, and ends up starting some great conversations! I remember as a child and even as a teenager that our family movie nights helped ground us as a family and I hope to do the same with my kids.

Unfortunately I remember many flub movie nights with my parents where we ended up watching movies that just weren’t to our liking. Thanks to Pop Secret who has teamed up with Rotten Tomatoes we never have to watch a mediocre movie again. Want to know more? Well then you need to learn about the ‘Find Your Critic’ tool brought to you by Pop Secret and Rotten Tomatoes that help you find the perfect critics that share your taste in movies!

So, how do we set up the perfect movie night, you ask? Well, it only takes three simple steps:

Step One – go to the Find Your Critic tool, since you can’t have the perfect movie night without the perfect movie!

How to Use the Tool:

  1. Rate a series of 12 movies using the Find Your Critic tool.
  2. Find your critic will compare your ratings with those of other Rotten Tomatoes critics.
  3. Movies you have reviews in the past and in the future will continue to pinpoint your top critics.
  4. Follow your critic’s reviews to see which movies you will most likely enjoy.

Step Two – find the perfect location and make it ultra-comfy! Now this sounds easy, but I can tell you that we have literally watched movies in almost every room in the house to find the perfect location and finally decided on our upstairs living room. We make it a fun game with the kids, allowing them to bring in all of their blankets to lie out, as well as, Mommy and Daddy’s BIG pillows. We lay it all out on the soft carpet and everyone dives in.

Step Three – find the perfect movie snack! This is an ultra-easy step as Pop Secret Popcorn has been my favorite movie snack since I was a child. There is just something about the smell of the popcorn that brings a smile to my face and wonderful memories to mind. Because I want to pass those memories down, my kids know that no movie night is complete without our Pop Secret Popcorn. Now, since my kiddos are still at that “I don’t want to share” age, I found these cute little individual popcorn boxes and the kids love them. They each get their own box and everyone is happy.

Once these three steps are completed we are ready to begin our movie night. I love, love, love watching as the kids snuggle, giggle, talk, and just relax together, all the while bonding over the perfect movie!

At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. That’s why we created the Find Your Critic tool with Rotten Tomatoes. It helps you figure out which movie critics you should listen to. All you have to do is rate some movies and the tool figures out which critics share your taste in movies. It even helps you follow your critics’ new movie reviews and recos. So when it comes to enjoying movies, the only thing you have to worry about is which kind of Pop Secret to make. Check it out!

What are the ways YOU prepare for the perfect movie night?

Thanks for sharing such a cool tool. My son is too young to sit still for a movie. I’ll use it in a few months to see what would be age appropriate and fun. But he loves popcorn!
