The holidays are here and it is a joyous time of year. Right? Well, not always. The holidays can also bring on unwanted stress to a relationship. The stress of shopping for each other and the stress of spending money can really put a damper on intimacy. This is why it is super-important for couples to take time for a date night and to take extra steps to reconnect and spice things up.

five steps couples can reconnect

Now, I don’t mean anything too crazy, what I mean is taking every moment you can to reconnect.

Here are five easy steps couples can take to reconnect during the holidays.

Hold Hands – now holding hands is something that some make take for granted or forget all together, especially once you have been together for a while, but holding hands is a great way for couples to reconnect. Whether it is holding hands while walking through the stores or while watching a movie, it is a simple step to take to show your affection. I know that even after ten years of marriage I still feel the electricity between Hubby and I when we hold hands. Holding-hands-helps-couples-reconnect #shop

Play footsie – Ha! I know, it sounds silly but just like holding hands, touching feet is a great way to reconnect.

Snuggle up to a good movie – A great way for couples to reconnect is to put the kids to bed and snuggle up to a good movie. Put the phones and electronics down, get a warm blanket and just snuggle on the couch.

Plan a date night in – Sometimes all it takes is a date night in. It doesn’t have to be extravogant, maybe a few games, some beer, and some yummy Christmas goodies. We have an assortment of adult games that we play. Some call for four players, but we change the rules around a bit to accommodate us and we have a blast.

Set up some alone time – A lot of us forget to set aside time for us. Between the stress of kids, budgets,  shopping lists, and even travel, we tend to push off those moments in the bedroom. This is not always a good idea. We need to remember that a relationship is made for both people, which is why K-Y®  Yours+Mine can enhance your relationship. It is easily found at your neighborhood Walmart or at Walmart.com and can really help keep the passion and intimacy alive.

  1. One of my favorite things is holding hands while I force my husband to watch a girly movie. He puts up with the movie, and I love him for that! =D

  2. I love those rare occasions when my husband and I can have a date night. It’s a great way to reconnect.
