Get kids to eat veggies Birds EyeThe other day I met with a few mom friends at the grocery and as we filled our carts we discussed our kids. One friend mentioned that she was struggling to get her kids to eat cooked veggies and that it was driving her crazy. We were just about to the frozen food aisle when I remembered that Birds Eye had contacted me to share about their new Birds Eye Steamfresh + Disney Shaped Pasta… When we came to the shelves featuring this new product, I pointed it out to the ladies and we all agreed that these would be a great way to get our kids to eat veggies.

The Disney offerings by Birds Eye is a great way to get kids to eat veggies by featuring fun pasta in the shape of today’s favorite Disney characters including Anna, Elsa, and Olaf from Disney’s Frozen; Lightning McQueen and Mater from Disney•Pixar’s Cars; and classic characters Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Varieties include: whole grain pasta and corn with a butter sauce, pasta and broccoli with a cheese sauce, pasta and peas with a parmesan cheese sauce, and pasta and carrots with a tomato sauce.

Since we were there and Birds Eye gave me a few product coupons, I grabbed a couple bags for myself to try them out and when I got them home, the kids took one look and begged me to make them that evening.

Now,  I serve two veggie sides with each meal and love the option of having the starch in with the veggies. I also like that I can throw the Birds Eye Steamfresh + Disney Shaped Pasta  in the microwave just before serving dinner, making them quick and easy to prepare.

The pasta and peas with a parmesan cheese sauce came out perfectly creamy without any sogginess to the peas. And the pasta and broccoli with a cheese sauce was a huge hit with the kids.

In the end, I love being able to conveniently serve veggie-filled options for everyone in the family, while getting the kids super-excited to eat them.

  2. That’s a great idea! When I was a kid, it took several rounds of threatening for me to eat my veggies.
