As you know, if you read my blog, I believe in passing the love for reading along to my children and especially the love of reading Christmas books this time of year. This is why I was excited to include Zonderkidz Books in our holiday gift guide.

Christmas Books for the holidays

The folks at Zondervan sent us an assortment of Zonderkidz books to check out and they are just amazing. Goodnight Manger, written by Laura Sassi and illustrated by New York Times bestselling artist Jane Chapman, is the story of Mary and Joseph as they try to get Jesus to sleep in the noisy stable after his birth. I love how this story uses amazing illustrations, beautiful rhymes, and a sweet story perfect for this time of year.

The Legend of the Christmas Cookie, which is written by award-winning author Dandi Daley Mackall and illustrated by New York Times bestselling artist Richard Cowdrey is a story of the very first Christmas cookie which was made to give to the needy. This beautifully written and illustrated book reminds us that Christmas is a time for giving and holiday spirit. Plus a delicious recipe is included on the jacket flap so readers can make their own Christmas sugar cookies.

The Song of the Stars, written by best-selling author Sally Lloyd-Jones, is a Christmas book that explores the joy and excitement and celebration in all of the creation at the coming of Jesus. This board book is the perfect gift for little ones, as it offers a fun story with bright illustrations that will capture any little one’s attention. Christmas Books Song of the Stars

Another wonderful board book is My Christmas Stocking Filled with God’s Love. This book is filled with fun rhymes of how the favorite holiday tradition of hanging a Christmas stocking on the mantle came about.

Of course, when you think of Christmas books you can’t forget The Berenstain Bears, The Very First Christmas.   I mean, who better to tell the story of Jesus’ holy birth, from the angel Gabriel’s announcement to Mary to the visit from the three wise men, then the Berenstain Bears? And while I am at it, you also can’t forget fun sticker books, like The Beginner’s Bible; A Christmas Celebration Sticker And Activity Book.  You can’t go wrong with 50 reusable stickers in this friendly and fun sticker and activity Book featuring The Beginner’s Bible classic art and simply written content.
