Do you celebrate Chinese New Year? Well, I have some great news; P.F. Chang’s has taken this opportunity to release a limited edition menu that has some promising options to complement their already robust selections. The special Chinese New Year menu includes Long Life Noodles & Prawns, Handmade Butternut Squash Dumplings, Hong Kong Style Sea Bass, and Sichuan Chili Garlic Chicken.
I am excited to share that we had the opportunity to stop into our local P.F. Chang’s to check out their menu and we had a great time. I believe the best person to give advice about a new menu is the server, so we started by asking ours his thoughts on the new menu. He recommended Handmade Butternut Squash Dumplings, so we went with those.
If you like butternut squash, then these dumplings are for you! It was a very simple and basic dish but extremely well done because the flavor of the squash was perfect in the dumpling. It was served with a butter sauce which was all that was necessary because there is no need to overpower the taste of squash with a different sauce.
The highlight of my meal, however, was the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass. I decided on the Hong Kong Sea Bass because it seemed different and new compared to the rest of the menu. It was served on a bed of assorted mushrooms, asparagus, and grape tomatoes with a ginger coriander broth. The fish was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor which was complimented by the veggies underneath. I usually don’t enjoy ginger based sauces but this one wasn’t too overpowering and it went great with the fish and vegetables.
The special menu items were a welcome addition to an already great menu that P.F. Chang’s offers. Between the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Mongolian Beef, the Handmade Butternut Squash Dumplings and the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass, I had a full and excellent meal that I would gladly order again if they made the New Year menu permanent.
What I thought was pretty cool was that to kick off the year of the Monkey, once we finished our meal the server gave us a sealed envelope to bring back in the month of March, which has a special offer and prize we could win. I heard that five lucky winners across the country will open an envelope with free P.F. Chang’s for a year! I won’t know whether it will be extra reward points or a free appetizer or entree but I’m excited to go back to eat some more delicious food and find out what I won.
On top of that, throughout the entire month of February, P.F. Chang’s will donate $1 (up to $100,000) to Boys & Girls Clubs of America each time someone shares their Chinese New Year wish on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #PFChangswish and when a guest orders an item off the limited-time Chinese New Year menu.
