Become a #GroceryHero with Walmart Online Grocery Pickup & Chewy Yogurt Pumpkin Pie Granola Bars Recipe

Have you tried Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup yet? Well, let me tell you, I am officially a #GroceryHero, ha!

Not sure if I have told you yet, but I am gearing up to go back to work. I know, I know… I LOVE being a stay-at-home Mama and don’t worry, Adventures of 8 will continue, but after ten years, it is about time I re-enter the workforce. That being said, it will be a huge adjustment for the whole family and I am trying to do everything I can to make life easier on everyone else who will be helping. I have been coming up with quick dinner ideas and making sure we are stocked up on after-school snacks. At the same time, I have been racking my brain to figure out a way to get grocery shopping done, quick and easy and the folks at Walmart have come to the rescue with their Walmart Online Grocery Pickupwalmart-online-grocery pickup-is-easy

If you follow me on Snapchat then you were able to see my online grocery pickup experience for yourself, but if not, no worries, I am here to tell you all about it. Step one was so simple, as all it took was sitting at my computer to place an online grocery order.  I was able to shop by department and also search for items that I knew I needed. Once my online grocery pickup order was finished I was able to select my pickup time and location and when I completed my order, I received detailed information of where to go for my grocery pickup. order-confirmation

The next day, I was able to wake up and get some things done around the house without worrying about getting to the grocery. Then about fifteen minutes before my pickup time I received a phone call letting me know that my Walmart Online Grocery Pickup order was ready. Nice, right? Once I got to Walmart I parked in the designated parking spot and called the phone number on the sign. Within minutes a charming young man brought me my groceries, assured me that I could stay in the car while he loaded the groceries in my trunk. Once he was finished he came to my window and explained that no substitutions were needed, meaning that all of the items I wanted were in stock. He also explained that if anything was out of stock, and I had agreed to substitutions, that he would have substituted either the same quality or higher-quality product at no additional cost, even if the other item was more expensive. He also explained that the Walmart employees only choose the freshest items – guaranteed, or my money pickup-at-walmart

Oh my goodness, folks, I can’t tell you how nice it was to not have to have to get out of the car, let alone walk through the grocery, knowing that I have so much to do to get ready for work. The best part was that I now know that I can place an order online and either have someone else {over the age of 18} pick it up for me or I can pick it up on my way home from work.

The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was that I couldn’t use coupons, but I guess I will save those to use in store. Since I was able to save so much time NOT having to go to the grocery to shop, I was able to throw together a fun afterschool snack for the kids, my  Chewy Yogurt Pumpkin Pie Granola Bars, perfect for after-school snacking!grocery-pickup-pumpkin-pie-granola-bars

Granola Bar Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Honey
  • 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Cups Oats
  • 1 Cup Rice Crispy Cereal
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon Pumpkin Pie Spice

Combine oats & rice cereal and set aside… meanwhile, use a small pot to melt butter, honey, and brown sugar together. Once it comes to a bubble, reduce the heat and add in the vanilla and pumpkin spice seasoning and then pour over the dry cereal and oats. Mix well and then pack into a pan lined with parchment paper. Be sure to pack it in well, so that it all sticks together.

Let sit for a couple of hours and when the granola feels firm, remove from the pan and cut into bar shapes. Once finished you can begin on the yogurt coating!pumpkin-pie-granola-bars-with-yogurt-coating
