Holiday traditions with Birds Eye & a Giveaway

I love holiday traditions. I mean, they are so cool. Not only do holiday traditions bring us back to holidays from the past, but they also bring us closer to those around us. holiday traditions-with-birds-eye

You see, I am a grown-up orphan, meaning, both of parents have passed, so I feel it is my responsibility to bring the holiday traditions that they taught me to my children and one of my favorite traditions is celebrating a holiday meal together.

My parents were divorced but that did not stop us from coming together each holiday season to celebrate as a family and that is something I carry with me, deep in my heart. So, when I cook a huge meal for my family, it makes me feel amazing.

One of the holiday traditions that I continue is adding green bean casserole to our holiday meals, the only difference is that I take a few shortcuts and make it easy-peasy on myself using Birds Eye® Cut Green Beans, thawed and drained. I love the texture that they bring to my green bean casserole and feel that they add the perfect crispness without any mushy-ness that may occur with canned green beans.

Another twist to the old-fashioned green bean casserole is that I layer the green bean mixture with some fried onions, making it very crunchy and oh, so good. holiday traditions-green-bean-casserole

Here is my twist on my families Holiday traditions of green bean casserole:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 bags (16 oz. ea.) Birds Eye® Cut Green Beans, thawed and drained
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups crispy French fried onions
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Mix the condensed cream of chicken soup and milk together until mixed well. Then add in the Birds Eye® Cut Green Beans. I pour half of the green bean mixture into my casserole dish and then top with a layer of half of the crushed French fried onions.  I then pour the rest of the green bean mixture and top with the remaining crushed French fried onions.holiday-traditions-making-green-beans

Bake in a 350°F pre-heated oven for 35 minutes and serve hot! I guarantee that your whole family will love my twist on this family favorite holiday tradition.
