Now, if you follow my blog, then you know that we have a slight obsession with family logic games. We love strategy games and those that really make us think. Almost every time my Brother-in-law and his family come for BBQ’s, holidays, or just for fun, we end up rummaging through our game closet and choosing one game or another. This is why I knew that our 2016 Holiday Gift Guide would not be complete without all the fun kids and family logic games from ThinkFun Games!
This season the folks at ThinkFun sent us an assortment of games that we are very excited for. We received Escape the Room: Mystery at the Stargazer’s Manor, Escape the Room: Secret of Dr. Gravely’s Retreat, Clue Master, and Balance Beans…
Balance Beans is a seesaw logic game for ages 5 and up. This gift is perfect for kids, such as Baby Miss, as she loves logic games and putting her mind to work. The way it works is that you are to follow the cards included balancing the pieces on the seesaw without it teetering. I love knowing that she will be using her visual mind to solve actual equations.
The next game, Clue Master is the perfect game for Little Miss. This is one of those logic games that makes you use skills of deductive reasoning to figure out the answers to the puzzles.
The other two games are true logic games that are perfect for family gatherings and a fun way to get everyone involved in the fun. Read my review on Escape the Room: Mystery at the Stargazer’s Manor HERE.
Now, to say that we were excited about received Escape the Room: Secret of Dr. Gravely’s Retreat is an understatement. My nephew actually drove from Corpus for the weekend so that he could enjoy the game with us and we are sure glad he did because we needed his brain power. This game’s mystery is that you are invited for a FREE stay at Foxcrest Retreat, only to find out that you and your fellow guests are stuck to go through clues before escaping.
Upon opening the game box we found an assortment of sealed envelopes the first welcome letter and clue, as well as, an answer wheel that tells you whether you have figured out the clue to each envelope.
What I love about this game is that everyone can get involved. Though it is really for ages 13 and up, I can tell you that Little Man and Little Miss were involved every step of the way. Reading clues, figuring out the answers, and even giving us a new perspective on things we missed.
In the end, we were able to escape the room and free the nurse and we loved every single minute of it. We laughed at silly mistakes we made, at clues overlooked, and patted ourselves on the back when we escaped.
In the end, if you like to fill your tree with logic games for kids and the whole family, I would suggest beginning by shopping at ThinkFun.com.
